Job Summary:
Electrician required in the automotive industry to ensure continuous plant availability through effective maintenance of electrical equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Machine maintenance as per provided schedules. (Performs PM’s, on machines and equipment)
- Troubleshoot, repair and improvement of plastics processing and ancillary equipment.
- Perform root cause analysis, practical development and implement solutions to increase equipment reliability, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Ensure that the facility and equipment are maintained at the highest level and runs efficiently; will coordinate and implement preventive maintenance activities; provides guidance to peers to ensure optimum production, quality and safety while minimizing costs, energy usage and waste in accordance with corporate policies and health and safety laws.
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repairs.
- Document repairs and maintenance of manufacturing machinery.
- Ensure minimal equipment downtime and damage by performing routine inspections to detect equipment failure or excess wear by performing preventative maintenance.
- Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
- Participate in the implementation of various improvement projects.
Minimum Requirements:
- Red seal qualification at a reputable institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience (10 years preferred) performing maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and/or robotics systems.
- Excellent analytical skills
- Experience with Plastic injection moulding, extrusion, and/or thermoforming
- Understanding of the functionality of relays, motor contactors, motor starters, solid state relays, soft starts and variable speed drives and heating elements
- Familiarity with the operation and troubleshooting of PLC programming.
- Ability to safely trace electrical circuits with a multi-meter and wiring schematic to find faulty components.
- Experience in electrical distribution and machine controls ranging from 24 to 480 volts AC/DC including power factor maintenance.
- Good overall exposure to heating systems and controls.
- Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot using schematic diagrams.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Ability to work weekends and overtime when required.
- Must be available on call outs when required.
